Huston, City Manager Parks and Recreation Services PROGRESS REPORT ON CEDAR GROVE PARK (PROJECT NO. 400041) AND HERITAGE PARK (PROJECT NO 400042) RECOMMENDATION: Receive and file. BACKGROUND: The City Council has requested monthly progress reports on the status of Heritage Park and Cedar Grove Park. As of this date, the parks are proceeding as follows: Cedar Grove Park (Project 400041) 1. Grading is complete. 2. Restroom building is 70% complete. 3. Concrete slab for basketball court is poured. 4. Concrete curbs for all three play areas are completed. Concrete walks and picnic area are 50% complete. 5. Storm drain pipe is corrrpleted. 6. Masonry columns and wood beams for the trellis are completed. 7. Sewer and water lines are completed. 8. The footbridge at the playground is framed. Fence rails are in progress. 9. Irrigation main line and underground electrical conduit are 75% complete. 10. Overall, the project is approximately 35% complete at this date. 11. 12. An accident occurred at the site on October 8, 1997. See attached letter from Hondo Company dated October 9, 1997, for details. Rain on 9/25 and 9/26, combined with the accident on 10/8, caused a slight delay in the work. Grading revisions and modification of the amphitheater also caused some minor delays. The landscape, building and playground facilities should be completed on schedule this December, with the entire park scheduled to open spring 1998. Heritage Park (Project No. 400042) 1. The plans were issued to bid on 10/10/97. 2. Bid opening is scheduled for 10/30/97. Our employee, Guillermo Flores was in .the process of installing roof sheeting on the restroom'building roof, a task he .has performed many times, when he fell through a skylight opening. Manual Solis, who was working at ground level, rushed to the fire station, alerting paramedics, who responded imediately. Mr. Flores was transported to Western Medical Center at 1001 N. Tustin Avenue, Santa Ama, CA 92705, and is at present in the Critical Care Unit. Reports were taken by both the Fire Department and Tustin Police.
