DECLARATION OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
That the city Council, at their regular meeting of October 6, 1997, declare the equipment detailed in this
report as surplus and not required for public use. Authorize the Public Works Department to dispose of
this equipment in accordance with Ordinance No. 871 of the City of Tustin.
FISCAL IMPACT: '
The total proceeds received for the sale of the aforementioned vehicles.and work equipment is to be
credited to Account No. 010-300-0000-4771 and Account No. 010-300-0000-4772.
DISCUSSION:
Section 1626A(2) of the City of Tustin Ordinance No. 871, requires the purchasing agent to prepare a
written estimate of value for any surplus items not usable by the City, or not required for public use.
Further, the City Council must find that these surplus items are not required for public use. After said
finding, the purchasing agent shall have the authority to sell such items in accordance with Ordinance
No. 871.
The Public Works Department has received proposals from auction companies and is prepared to sell the
equipment at the next available public auction. The surplus equipment is no longer in use by the City,
due to normal rotation/replacement.
Field Services will hold five pieces of small landscape equipment from the auction for part salvage to
service equipment still in use.
