CALL TO ORDER at 4:41 p.m. ATTENDANCE Present: Mayor Al Murray, Mayor Pro Tern Charles "Chuck" Puckett and Councilmembers John Nielsen, Rebecca "Beckie" Gomez and Allan Bernstein Absent: None City Clerk: Erica Rabe, City Clerk Services Supervisor Others Present: David E. Kendig, City Attorney PUBLIC INPUT— None REGULAR BUSINESS ITEMS 1. INTERVIEW AND APPOINT TWO MEMBERS TO THE AUDIT COMMISSION The City Council conducted interviews and appointed two (2) members to the Audit Commission. The Audit Commissioners will serve until March 1, 2018 or until their respective successors are appointed and qualified. Councilmember Gomez selected candidates from an envelope to interview in no particular order. Council interviewed the following candidates: 1. John Corral 2. R. Lawrence Friend 3. Thomas Stroud City Council March 4, 2014 Special Meeting Minutes Page 1 of 3 Mayor Murray invited nominations. It was moved by Mayor Pro Tern Puckett and seconded by Councilmember Bernstein to nominate R. Lawrence Friend and Thomas Stroud. It was moved by Councilmember Nielsen and seconded by Councilmember Gomez to close nominations. Motion carried: 5-0 Mayor Murray announced by unanimous vote R. Lawrence Friend was reappointed and Thomas Stroud was appointed to serve on the Audit Commission until March 1, 2018. 2. INTERVIEW AND APPOINT TWO MEMBERS TO THE COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION The City Council conducted interviews and appointed two (2) members to the Community Services Commission. The Community Services Commissioners will serve until March 1, 2016 or until their respective successors are appointed and qualified. Councilmember Gomez selected candidates from an envelope to interview in no particular order. Council interviewed the following candidates: 1. Julia McGinnis 2. Amy Nakamoto 3. Thomas Parker 4. Dr. Tran Hong 5. Leticia Clark 6. Sharon Nicola 7. Brittanie Ngo 8. Rusty Kozak 9. Ken Henderson 10.Jill Hurd 11.Pat Madsen Mayor Murray invited nominations. Councilmember Nielsen nominated Ken Henderson and Amy Nakamoto. Councilmember Gomez nominated Leticia Clark. Mayor Pro Tem Puckett nominated Dr. Tran Hong. Councilmember Bernstein nominated Julia McGinnis ad Brittanie Ngo. It was moved by Councilmember Bernstein and seconded by Councilmember Nielsen to close nominations. Following the nominations, ballots were cast by Council to fill two (2) two-year terms on the Community Services Commission. City Council March 4, 2014 Special Meeting Minutes Page 2 of 3 City Clerk Services Supervisor Erica Rabe reported the ballot tally as follows: Murray: Ken Henderson and Amy Nakamoto Puckett: Dr. Tran Hong and Ken Henderson Nielsen: Amy Nakamoto and Ken Henderson Gomez: Amy Nakamoto and Leticia Clark Bernstein: Julia McGinnis and Brittanie Ngo By majority vote, Council re-appointed incumbents Amy Nakamoto and Ken Henderson to the community Services Commission for a two-year term expiring March 1, 2016.
