Recommendation:
That the Police Department be authorized to purchase the prior-approved van from California
Comfort Vans, 15040 Goldenwest Circle, Westminster, CA 92683 for a cost of $26,484 plus tax,
license, and associated costs.
Fiscal Im pact:
Additional $2,584 plus tax, license, and associated fees (equipment fund).
Background:
Council authorized the Police Department to purchase the replacement van from Continental
Coach Corporation in Santa Aha, CA for a purchase price of $23,900 plus tax, license, and
associated fees. Shortly after approval, the Police Department became aware that the
company was experiencing significant financial a~culties. The order was delayed and,
subsequently, the business filed for Chapter 11.
As a result, the Police Department contacted several other van conversion enterprises. The
best price found is as'follows:

This contract amount'results in an additional expenditure of $2,584 over what was authorized
by Council. We request your authorization to continue with the van acquisition.
