STACK, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS /CITY ENGINEER SUBJECT: ACCEPT IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE TUSTIN LEGACY FIRE STATION — RELOCATION OF STATION NO. 37 CIP NO. 10048 AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY ENGINEER TO FILE A NOTICE OF COMPLETION OR SUMMARY Construction of the Tustin Legacy Fire Station No. 37 CIP No. 10048 has been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and the project is now ready for City Council acceptance. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council: Adopt Resolution No. 14 -33 accepting the construction of the Tustin Legacy Fire Station No. 37 CIP No. 10048; and 2. Authorize the City Engineer to execute and file the Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's Office. FISCAL IMPACT The final construction cost for the Tustin Legacy Fire Station No. 37 is $4,228,351 including authorized contract change orders in the amount of $36,351 or 0.87 %. The project was funded by Community Facilities District (CFD) 06 -01 (Fund 434). CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN Relocation of Fire Station No. 37 contributes to the fulfillment of the City's Strategic Plan Goal B: Public Safety and Protection of Assets. Specifically, the project implements strategy #3, which among other items, is to ensure continuous maintenance and improvement of public facilities. DISCUSSION Construction of the Tustin Legacy Fire Station No. 37 replaces the previous OCFA Fire Station No. 37, which was located at 14901 Red Hill Avenue. The new station is located on a 1.25 -acre parcel owned by the City at 15011 Kensington Park Drive, which is at the southwest corner of Kensington Park Drive and Edinger Avenue. The Facility includes a single -story, wood - framed structure of approximately 9,670 square feet with three apparatus bays, office facilities for two companies, and living space for a crew of eight firefighters. Said public works and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Tustin Legacy Fire Station No. 37 Facility Construction Project CIP No. 10048 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance of said public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
