HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/WATER DIVISION FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS -WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECTS (PROJECT NOS. 600123 & 600124) RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Tustin.City Council, at their regular meeting of June 16, 1997, adopt Resolution No. 97- 54 accepting said work and authoiSzing the recordation of the Notice of Completion. Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed, it is further recommended that the City Council authorize payment of the 10% retention amount of $55,163.52, thirty-five days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion. This amount, together with previous payments of $496,471.68~ represents 100% of the final contract FISCAL IMPACT The Water Capital Improvement budget allocated a total of $713,000 for the two projects. Total construction cost was $55.1,635. BACKGROUND At its October 7, 1996 meeting, the City Council awarded Projects No. 600123 and 600124 to RLT Construction, Inc. of Anaheim, CA in the amount of $560,489.00. The contract amount was reduced when the County of Orange eliminated the requirement for an AC pavement slurry seal. This project consisted of the replacement of deteriorated and undersized water mains on Linda Lane, Laurinda Way, Laurie Lane, Fiesta Way and Arbolada Way west of Prospect Avenue; and Clarissa Lane north of Vandeflip Avenue (Project No. 600123); and Norwood Park Place and Bigelow Park between Prospect Avenue and Holt Avenue; Livingston Street between Norwood Park Place and north of Bigelow Park; Lambeth Way north of Bigelow Park; Kirk Avenue between Livingston Street and Dali Lane; Dali Lane between Kirk Avenue and Norwood Park Place; and Holt Avenue between Dali Lane and Warren Avenue (Project No. 600124). The work concluded on May 27, 1997, on schedule, and has been completed to the satisfaction of the Public Works Department. Dkector of Public Works/City Engineer Michael Martin Water Services Engineer 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 97-54 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING RECORDATION. OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECTS - PROJECT NOS. 600123, AND 600124 WHEREAS, RLT COnstruction, Inc. having a contract with the City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public work and improvement; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and~ the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public work and improvement is found to be complete, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Water Main Replacement Projects- Project Nos. 600123, and 600124 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the Acceptance of said public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
