RING DIVISION FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS - DEMOLITION OF EL CAMIO SUBdECT:APARTME2q'rs, 1921-1951 EL CAMINO REAL (CIP NO. 700116 DEMO) RECO~NDATION It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of April 21, 1997 adopt Resolution No. 97-29 accepting said work as complete and authorize the recordation of the Notice of Completion, and direct the City Clerk to: 1. Release the Labor and Materials Bond not sooner than thirty-five (35) days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion. 2. Release the Faithful Performance Bond not sooner than one year after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion. Assuming no claims or stop notices are filed, it is further recommended that 35 days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion the City Council authorize payment of the final 10% retention in the amount of $1,830.00 to Environmental Control Systems, Inc. This amount, together with previous payments totaling $16,470.00, represents 100% of the final contract amount. FISCAL IMPACT The final cost of the construction contract is $18,300.00. 1996-97 FY Capital Improvement Project (CIP) budget. The apartment demolition is funded from the BACKGROUND The project consisted of the demolition and disposal of a 10 unit single-story apartment complex consisting of three buildings, parking lot, trees and shrubs. Additionally, perimeter security fencing was installed. As part of the E1 Camino Real Widening Project between Red Hill Avenue and east of Browning Avenue, the City purchased the property, provided relocation assistance to tenants, and completed removal and disposal of asbestos from the vacant buildings.
