PREFERENTIAL PERMIT PARKING)CONSIDERATION OF PREFERENTIAL PERMIT PARKING DEBUSK LANE, WALTER AVENUE, RALEIGH PLACE AND DEL AMO AVENUE, BETWEEN NISSON ROAD AND MITCHELL AVENUE BACKGROUND On October 7, 2008, the City Council adopted the "Policy and Procedures for Preferential Permit Parking on Public Streets ". Preferential permit parking applies to hours between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM every night, and is established by introduction of an ordinance which revises the Tustin City Code. Under the Policy an applicant may submit a request, after which the Public Works Department will determine the limits of the preferential permit parking zone and complete a parking evaluation within the zone. I _.;rlcw --- Wool DEL AMO AVENUE BETWEEN NISSON ROAD & MITCHELL AVENUE JISCIISSIC Thursday I Friday I Saturday I Sunday 05101114 05102114 05103114 14 Vehicles Registered to Del Amo Ave. Vehicles Not Registered to Del Amo Ave. DISCUSSION With assistance from the Police Department, the following percentage of non- resident parking was determined for each street based on the four -day surveys: Del Amo Avenue 73% Debusk Lane 61% Walter Avenue 85% Raleigh Place 36% Although less than 50% of the cars on Raleigh Place belong to non - residents, permit parking is recommended because of the high potential for increased non - resident parking if and when permit parking is established in the surrounding neighborhood. RECOMMENDATION That the City Council introduce and have the first reading of Ordinance No. 1447 and set the second reading for the Council's next scheduled meeting.
