HUSTON, CITY MANAGER SUBJECT: POLICY REGARDING CITY COUNCIL EXPENDITURES Mayor Pro Tem Potts requested that the City Council consider adoption of a policy requiring the City Council's formal approval for any item of expense not already authorized to all members of the City Council. Attached is a draft resolution that would implement such a policy. The resolution provides that any request made by a Councilmember for an item that is not provided for in the annual budget, or otherwise authorized for all Councilmembers, must be formally approved by the City Council. WAH ccexps.wah 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 92-75 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, PRESCRIBING APPROVAL OF COUNCILMEMBER EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 83-1 provides that each member of the City Council shall receive a monthly allowance to cover miscellaneous expenditures directly related to the performance of their public duties; and WHEREAS, the City Council will authorize only such additional expenses for the City Council and its members as are reasonable, necessary and not covered by the monthly allowance. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin, California resolves that no member of the City Council shall obligate the City, incur any expense on the City's behalf or be entitled to reimbursement by the City for any expense incurred or paid unless provided in the annual City budget or approved by the City Council at a regular meeting of the City Council.
