HomeMy WebLinkAboutC.C. 09 SURPLUS EQUIP 05-18-92CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 9 AGENDAs() , 5-18-92 )ATE: MAY 12, 1992 Inter -Com `�- TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORICS DEPARTMENT/FIELD SERVICES SUBJECT: DECLARATION OF SURPLUS VEHICLES & WORK EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council, at their regular meeting of May 18, 1992 declare the equipment detailed in this report surplus and not required for public use and authorize the Public Works Department to dispose of cquipmcnt in accordance with ordinance No. 871 of the City of Tustin. BACKGROUND: Section 1626A(2) of the City of Tustin ordinance No. 871 discusses the disposition of property and requires the purchasing agent to prepare a written estimate of the value of any surplus items not useable by the City or not required for Public Use. Further, the City Council must find that these surplus items arc not required for public use and after said finding, the purchasing agent shall have the authority to sell such items in accordance with 1625C and Section 1625D of ordinance No. 871, whichever is applicable. DISCUSSION: The Public Works Department is prepared to sell the equipment at the next available auction. The equipment is no longer in use by the City and is surplus due to damage and routine rotation/replacement.
