SUBJECT: FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR COLUMBUS TUSTIN PARK PHASE 2A RECOMMENDATION That the Redevelopment Agency, at their. meeting of May 4, 1992,accept the improvements constructed and authorize the recordation of the Notice of Completion for said improvements with the adoption of the attached resolution. Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed, it is further recommended that 35 days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion the Agency authorize the release of securities in lieu of retention in the amount of $65,000 (10% of the final cost of $657,392) presently held in trust at Security Pacific Bank, the Escrow Agent. BACKGROUND This project encompasses the construction of approximately 1257 L.F. of 24" storm drain piping, 400 L.F. of 18" storm drain piping, park improvements such as paving for 185 parking stalls, landscape treatments, picnic area, tot -lot, park area lighting, and rough grading for the Phase 2B gymnasium building pad. Total area equals 5.3 acres. MEMO TO: WILLIAM A. HUSTON -May .4, 1992 Page 2 of 2 DISCUSSION All work on this project was completed by Valley Crest Landscape to the satisfaction, of the public Works Department and the Community Services Department. The final contract amount for this project was $657,392.13. The cost breakdown is generally as follows: Original Contract $612,110.00 Change Orders 45.282.13 = 7.45 of Contract Total Cost $6571,392.13 Construction Budget 26734200.00 Budget Remainder $ 15,807.87 The change orders were generated as follows: 186 ft. storm drain extension $70219.00 to serve water well per Eng_Dept. Tiller Day preparations 470.00 Upgrade concrete paving 21943.00 Upgrade tot -lot sand 802.00 Contingencies & Field Conditions 33 848.13 Subtotal $45,282.13 In spite of the unforseen field conditions, heavy rains, and a storm drain extension (see above) the project finished within the construction budget, and was completed on time for the opening of the park for the Spring Egg Hunt. The attached resolution accepts the works of improvements and authorizes the recordation of the Notice of Completion. ROBERT S. LEDENDECKER Director of Public Works/ City Engineer a.4.Notice CHRISTINE SHIN ETON Assistant Ci Manager EDWARD'ELOWE Project Manager 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RDA RESOLUTION NO. 92-6 A RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR COLUMBUS TUSTIN PARK, PHASE 2A, PROJECT NO. 400020 WHEREAS, Valley Crest Landscape, Inc. having a contract with the City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public work and improvement; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the notice of completion, and acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Tustin that said public work and improvement be, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Columbus Tustin Park, Phase 2A, Project No. 400020 AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin be and is hereby authorized to execute and file a notice of completion and acceptance of said public work and improvement described herein as required by law.
