HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT.- SB 821 BICYCLE/ PEDESTRIAN FACILITIES, PROJECT APPLICATION FOR FISCAL YEAR 1992-93 RECOMMENDATIONS: It is recommended that the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of April 21, 1992, adopt a resolution approving the application for Bicycle and/or Pedestrian Facility Funds under SB 821. BACKGROUND: An allocation of $13,070 will be available to the City in FY 1992- 93, under the SB 821 Program for Bicycle and/or Pedestrian Facilities. On July 8, 1991, the Orange County Transportation Authority approved the 1991-92 FY sidewalk and handicap ramps project on the north side of Walnut Avenue between the AT&SF Railroad easement and Myford Road. This project was scheduled for construction with the 1989-90 FY and 1990-91 FY Projects, which were previously approved. During the final design of these projects it was found that the allocated funds would not be adequate for all projects and therefore it was decided to delete the 1991-92 FY project and reapply for it in Fiscal Year 1992-93. Last month the City Council accepted the sidewalk construction on Vandenberg Lane (1989-90 FY Project) and on Walnut Avenue (1990-91 FY Project) with a total cost of $39,729.15, which will be billed against the available SB 821 allocations of $40,254.00. The proposed construction on the north side of Walnut Avenue, in the industrial area, will provide continuous concrete sidewalk and handicap ramps to the easterly city limit on Walnut Avenue, and will use all available funds for 1992-93 FY. 0 � > Robert Ledendecker Wisam Altowalji Director of Public Works/City Engineer Associate Civil Engineer BL:WA:ccg:sb821 - Attachment 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 92-57 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, ORANGE COUNTY CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR BICYCLE AND/OR PEDESTRIAN FACILITY FUNDS UNDER SB 821 WHEREAS, SB 821 provides that 2% of each County's total local Transportation Fund be annually set aside and used to fund the development of Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities; and WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to provide sidewalk facilities for pedestrian use throughout the entire community; and WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to construct the sidewalk facilities within the City utilizing the funds available under SB 821; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin does resolve as follows: 1. To construct pedestrian facilities within this City to the established standards. 2. To authorize Bob Ledendecker as the City's authorized signature and designated contact person. 3. To apply for all funds available to the City of Tustin allocated for bikeways and pedestrian facilities under SB 821.
