SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE UNDERGROUND BORING EQUIPMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council, at its regular meeting of March 16, 1992, authorize staff to solicit bids
for underground boring equipment as authorized in the Water Services Division Capital Budget
in the amount of $7,000.00
DISCUSSION:
The Water Services Division crews currently utilized conventional wet drilling equipment for
placing new service laterals under existing streets. The equipment is awkward and cumbersome
to operate. The new equipment will be pneumatically operated, less cumbersome to operate,
and require smaller in -street excavations when replacing service laterals.
