HomeMy WebLinkAboutC.C. 06 BORING EQUIP 03-16-92CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 6 3-16-92 A G E N D i -- -- - -- ----- ---- - ----- -- lntcr -Com DATE: MARCH 9, 1992 TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/WATER DIVISION SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE UNDERGROUND BORING EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council, at its regular meeting of March 16, 1992, authorize staff to solicit bids for underground boring equipment as authorized in the Water Services Division Capital Budget in the amount of $7,000.00 DISCUSSION: The Water Services Division crews currently utilized conventional wet drilling equipment for placing new service laterals under existing streets. The equipment is awkward and cumbersome to operate. The new equipment will be pneumatically operated, less cumbersome to operate, and require smaller in -street excavations when replacing service laterals.
