FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS - STREET REHABILITATION ON RED
HILL AVENUE BETWEEN BARRANCA PARKWAY AND WARNER AVENUE, AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of March
2, 1992, adopt the attached Resolution accepting said work and
authorizing the recordation of the Notice of Completion.
Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed, it is further
recommended that 35 days after the date of recordation of the
Notice of Completion, that the Council authorize payment of the
final 10% retention in the amount of $40,926.30. This amount
together with previous payments of $368,336.73 represents 100% of
the final contract amount.
BACKGROUND:
This project provided for the improvement of Red Hill Avenue from
Barranca Parkway to Warner Avenue. The scope of the project was to
reconstruct and/or rejuvenate and resurface the highway pavement.
Related work on the project included traffic striping and pavement
markers, detection loops, sidewalk and curb and gutter repair,
traffic signal modifications and interconnect, placement of
pavement reinforcing fabric, and adjustment of manholes and water
valves to grade. This project was a joint effort between the City
of Santa Ana, City of Tustin and the Orange County Unified
Transportation Trust (OCUTT) , which provided 50% matching funds for
eligible items of construction engineering and construction
contract. This joint effort allowed the entire street to be
improved in lieu of just three quarters of the street.
This work has been completed to the satisfaction of the Engineering
Division. The final contract amount is $409,263.03. This
represents an underrun of 3.8 percent from the original contract
amount or $425,599.70.

RESOLUTION NO. 92-38
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND
AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR
STREET REHABILITATION ON RED HILL AVENUE BETWEEN BARRANCA
PARKWAY AND WARNER AVENUE, AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL
MODIFICATIONS AND INTERCONNECT AT THE INTERSECTION OF RED
HILL AVENUE AND WARNER AVENUE
WHEREAS, Sully Miller Contracting Company, having a
contract with City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter
described public work and improvement; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the
construction and completion of said public improvements
hereinafter mentioned in manner satisfactory to the City
Council of the City of Tustin; and
.WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has
completed said improvement hereinafter more particularly
described in accordance with the provisions of the contract
documents and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said
public work and improvement should be f iled and payment of the
balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the
contract documents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Tustin that said public work and improvement be, and
the same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement
is more particularly described as follows:
Street Rehabilitation on Red Hill Avenue between
Barranca Parkway and Warner Avenue and Traffic
Signal Modifications and Interconnect at the
Intersection of Red Hill Avenue and Warner Avenue
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the
City of Tustin be, and is hereby authorized to execute and
file a Notice of Completion and acceptance of said public work
and improvement described herein as required by law.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Tustin on the 2nd day of March, 1992.
