CARL CLAES MEMORIAL PLAQUE
Recommendation:'
Pleasure of the Council.
Background:
Mayor Jim Potts has asked that this item be placed on the agenda for Council consideration. The
Mayor has expressed interest in the City purchasing and installing a plaque at one of the City's
parks or recreation facilities memorializing Carl Claes. Locations at the Sports Park and the
Wishing Well in front of the Community Center have been discussed.
A six by ten inch (6" X 10") bronze plaque will cost approximately $250.00. Once the order is
placed, it takes approximately five to eight weeks for the plaque to arrive. City staff can install
the plaque..
.Currently, the City does not have policy in place for memorializing or dedicating portions of
publicly owned park and recreation facilities to citizens or special groups. This would be an
appropriate assignment for the Parks and Recreation Commission.
