JUNE 30, 1986
I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Saltarelli at 5:04 p.m. in the
City Council Chambers, 300 Centennial Way.
II. ROLL CALL

Councilpersons Absent: Richard B. Edgar (Arrived at 5:25 p.m.}

Robert S. Ledendecker, Dir. of Public Works

III. NEW BUSINESS
1. REJECTION OF BIDS - EL MODENA-IRVINE CHANNEL (F07)
IMPROVEMENTS REACH I FOR ASSESSMENT DISTRICT 85-1 (PHASE V-A)
Bids for subject project were received on June 24, 1986, as fol-
lows:
K E.C. Company, Corona $5,018,572.00
Belczak & Sons, Orange $5,361,164.00
The low bid was $1,426,172.00 or 39.7% over the engineer's estimate
of $3,592,400.00.
As recommended in the inter-com dated June 30, 1986, prepared by
the Public Works Department/Engineering Division, it was moved by
Kennedy, seconded by Hoesterey, that all bids for subject project
be rejected and that the project be re-advertised for bids at a
later date. The motion carried 4-0, Edgar absent. 25
2. AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR FAIRHAVEN, YORBA, NEWHAVEN, AND TROPIC LANE
WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS
Bids for subject project were received on June 24, 1986, as lol-
lows:
Spear Pipeline Construction, Orange $191,803.73
Pacific Desert Cnstruction, Escondido $203,288.00
As recommended in the inter-com dated June 24, 1986, prepared by
the Public Works Department/Engineering Division, it was moved by
Saltarelli, seconded by Kennedy, to award the contract for subject
~roject to Spear Pipeline Construction, Orange, in the amount of
191,803.73. The motion carried 4-0, Edgar absent. 107
IV. ADJOURNMENT
At 5:36 p.m. the Council adjourned to the next Regular Meeting on
July 7, 1986, at 7:00 p.m. by unanimous informal consent.
