Dear Mayor Potts,
Pursuant to our telephone conversation, I would like to present to you and the Tustin City
Council a request for assistance to Tustin Eastern Little League.
Tustin Eastern Little League Inc., is a nonprofit California corporation organized for the
· .
purpose of providing fellowship, instilling sportsmanship and offering baseball instruction on
an annual basis to over 500 boys and girls ages 5-15, who are residents of the City of Tustin
and adjacent residents of Santa Ana. Our league provides the aforementioned services to an
area encompassing over 20,000 residents.
We utilize the ball fields at Utt Middle School and we take great care and pride in the
maintenance of those fields. Our volunteers work extremely hard to care for the fields and we
feel that they are among the best in Orange County as evidence by the many Ali-Star
tournaments that we have been asked to host.
As you are aware, the City of Tustin has limited resources and property to provide recreational
parks and sports facilities for its residents. The high visibility of the baseball fields that Tustin
Eastern Little League has developed, have become of high interest to the residents of Tustin
who desire to use the facilities for recreational purposes. We are proud to be able to provide
these facilities.

To enable us to continue to offer equipme~nt, recreation and safe facilities to the "kids" 0f
Tustin, we would like to request financial assistance from the City Council. Funds wou!¢ be
used for the following:
1. $2500. This would be for the purchase and erection of an electronic scoreboard. The
scoreboard has advertising space for sale and we would be haPpy to use it to promote the
City of Tustin. Also, it would be a tremendous source of pride to the,. players and parents as
well as being the final touch to our state of the art facility.
2. $850. These funds would be used for the purchase of bleacher seating on our Single A
field which is located at the corner of Bryan and Browning: As you know, it is an extremely
Iow area in the facility and the field and area behind the backstop are subject to flooding when
it rains. Bleachers would provide a comfortable area for parents, friends and families to cheer
on their team and promote a comradery that baseball achieves.
3. $1000. This would be used for the purchase of a backstop for our Pee-Wee field. Over
40% of the players at Tustin Eastern Little League are in our Pee-Wee division. These
children range from the ages of 5-10 years old. We feel that this is the age where the love of
the game starts. We would like them to feel like the "big kids" who play on the major field with
a backstop.
4. $500. This would be used for the purchase of safety horn. Our primary concern is for the
safety of the kids. The automatic horn signals that there is a lack of light and is unsafe to
continue the games. This devise is highly recommended by Little League headquart, ers in
Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Tustin Eastern Little League Inc. hereby certifies that funds the City of Tustin City Council
provides to our cause will be used expressly for the purposes as outlined herein. We further
state that any monies not used for said purposes will be immediately returned to the City of
Tustin City Council as directed in any agreement made between the two parties.
Sincerely,
Sue Jackson
