AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR WATER MAIN REPLACEMENTS, CITY PROJECT
NOS. 600125, 600126 AND 600128
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of August 19, 1996, award the
contract for the subject project to G. R. McKervey, Inc. of Santa Ana, California, in the amount of
$443,234.00.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The amount of this contract is $443,234.00. There is currently $505,000 of COP (bond) proceeds and
$80,000 of Capital Improvement Program funding allocated for these projects in the 1996/97 FY Water
Service Capital Improvement Program Budget.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were opened on July 30, 1996, for subject project and 14 bids were received as follows:

The low bid by G. R. McKervey, Inc. is 10.5% under the engineer's estimate of $495,000.00.
The Contractor's references have been verified and their past job performances are satisfactory.
DISCUSSION:
This project consists of replacing aging, deteriorating and undersized steel water mains in Kenwood Lane
between La Colina and Sierra Alta; San Juan Street between Utt Drive and Red Hill Avenue; Mount Hood,
Sierra Madre Drive and Allegheny Way Northerly of Santa clara Avenue, Foothill Avenue between
Rawlings Reservoir and Hewes Avenue and in Rosalind Avenue between Rainier and Fairhaven. These
water mains will improve water system supply and circulation and reduce maintenance and repair costs in
these areas.
