HUSTON, CITY MANAGER MIKE HENLEY, DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY SERVICES STATUS REPORT: HERITAGE WAY PARK (g400042) AND TUSTIN RANCH TREE PARK (g400041) RECOMMENDATION: Receive and file. BACKGROUND: Heritage Way Park (fl400042): At the August 19th meeting, City Council directed staff to negotiate an architectural services agreement with RJM Design Group, Inc. The city just received a proposal from RJM. An evaluation of their proposal is underway. An interdepartmental project team will be assembled to work with the architect in identifying regulatory and operational issues during pre-design and design/development to help expedite plan development. Staff has indicated to the architect that an acceptable concept plan needs to be approved by Thanksgiving. The park site needs a name. This will be addressed as part of the public workshop. . Tustin Ranch Tree Park (g400041): The architect has begun design/development. This phase consists of development of preliminary grading and drainage plans, geo-technical reports, preliminary landscape plans, lighting plans, and architectural elevations for structures. This phase should conclude mid-October. At that time, development of construction documents will begin. The architect is estimating that the project will be ready to bid by February, 1997. The park should open in October, 1997. The Tree Park also needs a name. The Department is preparing a newsletter reporting on the status of the park to area residents. Staff will use the newsletter to ask for name suggestions. An ad hoc subcommittee of the Parks and Recreation Commission will review the name suggestions.
