HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMFNT/ENGINEERING DIVISION APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR WALNUT AVENUE REHABILITATION PRO~ BETWEEN NEWPORT AVENUE AND RED HILL AVENUE, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDING 1996-97 FY (PROJECT NO. 700152) RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of December 2, 1996, adopt the attached Resolution No. 96-125 approving the plans and specifications for the Walnut Avenue Rehabilitation Project between Newtx)rt Avenue and Red Hill Avenue and authorizing and directing the City Clerk to advertise for bids. FISCAL IMPACT The Engineer's estimate for this project is $158,000.00. The City's FY 1996-97 Capital Improvement Program Budget provides $153,000.00 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Depending on the bid results a supplemental appropriation may be necessary and will be requested concurrently with award of the contract. BACKGROUND This project will provide for the removal and reconstruction of asphalt concrete pavement failure areas and construction of a new asphalt concrete wearing course along Walnut Avenue between the Newport Avenue and Red Hill Avenue.
