BIDS FOR WALNUT AVENUE REHABILITATION PRO~ BETWEEN NEWPORT AVENUE
AND RED HILL AVENUE, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDING
1996-97 FY (PROJECT NO. 700152)
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of December 2, 1996, adopt the attached
Resolution No. 96-125 approving the plans and specifications for the Walnut Avenue Rehabilitation
Project between Newtx)rt Avenue and Red Hill Avenue and authorizing and directing the City
Clerk to advertise for bids.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Engineer's estimate for this project is $158,000.00. The City's FY 1996-97 Capital
Improvement Program Budget provides $153,000.00 from the Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) program. Depending on the bid results a supplemental appropriation may be
necessary and will be requested concurrently with award of the contract.
BACKGROUND
This project will provide for the removal and reconstruction of asphalt concrete pavement failure
areas and construction of a new asphalt concrete wearing course along Walnut Avenue between the
Newport Avenue and Red Hill Avenue.

ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS (PROJECT NO. 700152)
WIdERF_AS, it is the intention of the City COuncil of the City of Tustin, California to contract
for the Walnut Avenue Rehabilitation between Newport Avenue and Red Hill Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has presented plans and specifimtions for the construction of
said work;
NOW, TItERE~~, BE IT RF~OLVED that the plans and specifimtions presented by the
City Engineer be; and are hereby approved. As the plans and specifications for;
Walnut Avenue Rehabilitation between Newport Avenue and Red Hill,
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funding, 1996-97 FY
(Project No. 700152)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
advertise as required by law for the receipt of sealed bids or proposals for the performance of
the work specified in the plans and specifications;
,BE IT FURTHER RF~OLVED that this project is categorically exempt from the
requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act; Class I: Existing Facilities
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Tustin held
on the 2nd day of December 1996.
