TO: WILLIAM A. HUSTON, CITY MANAGER
FROM: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT: DISPOSITION OF SURPLUS TRAILER
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council and Redevelopment Agency
declare the item detailed in this report surplus, and not required
for public use and authorize the City' s purchasing agent to dispose
of the item in accordance with Ordinance 871.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
Section 1626a(2) of the City of Tustin Ordinance 871 discusses the
disposition of property and requires the purchasing agent to make
a written estimate of the value of any surplus items not useable by
the City or not required for public use. Further, the City Council
must find that these surplus items are not required for public use
and after said finding, the purchasing agent shall have the
authority to sell such items in accordance with Section 1625c and
Section 1625d of Ordinance 871, whichever is applicable. The City
purchased a trailer approximately five years ago to accommodate
overcrowded conditions at City Hall. The trailer is currently
being used as field office for project management of construction
on the Civic Center site. The City's contractor has recently
informed staff that the trailer must be moved from the site as soon
as possible so remaining site improvements can be completed. Since
the trailer will no longer be needed by the City with anticipated
relocation of City Hall employees, the City must declare it
surplus.
The Redevelopment Agency would anticipate selling the described
trailer listed below by sealed bid. Any anticipated proceeds would
be applied against change orders for the City Hall project, since
the trailers were purchased due to delays in the start of
construction.
