BACKGROUND At the January 19, 1993 City Council meeting the City Council requested that staff organize an ad-hoc task force meeting. The task force is intended to discuss the formation of a beautification program and make recommendations to the City Council. Pursuant to Council direction, an invitation notice was mailed to all persons who had applied in 1992 for a Commission/Committee appointment and a press release notice inviting participation was run in the Tustin News on February 11, 1993 (see attached). In addition, both Ms. Erin Nielsen who had first proposed a city beautification program and the Chamber of Commerce were sent invitations to participate. The response to the invitations and publicity has been quite good, nine persons have contacted the Community Development Department to confirm their attendance at the first task force meeting on Marcz 9, 1993. Staff will keep the Council informed as to the process of the ad- hoc task force.
