AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE ASPHALT CONCRETE
SUBJECT: REHABILITATION AND OVERLAY PROJECT, FY 1992-93, PHASE TWO; AND
THE SIDEWALK, CURB AND GUTTER REPAIR PROJECT, FY 1992-93
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the City Council, at their
meeting of February 1, 1993, adopt the attached
resolution approving plans and specifications and
authorizing advertisement for bids for subject
project.
BACKGROUND:
This year's Major Maintenance Program consists of
two phases of asphalt concrete rehabilitation and
overlay projects: Phase One was the Edinger Avenue
Rehabilitation between Jamboree Road and 2410 feet
westerly, which was previously awarded by the City
Council. Construction on Edinger Avenue is
scheduled to begin shortly. Phase Two consists of
rehabilitation and overlay of all of the streets in
Tustin Meadows with the exception of the loop
street. The loop street is comprised of Devonshire
Avenue, Brookshire Avenue, Canterbury Avenue, and
Roanoke Avenue, which were resurfaced in 1986 and
1987. Included in the project are: repair of
sidewalk, curb and gutter; repair/modification of
the median islands; replacement of traffic signal
loops; and traffic striping and legends. The street
rehabilitation/overlay will be funded from the CIP
Major Maintenance Program in an estimated amount of
$375,000; and the sidewalk, curb and gutter repair
will be funded from the Annual Sidewalk, Curb and
Gutter Repair Program in an estimated amount of
$100,000 for a total project amount of $475,000.
An additional sidewalk, curb and gutter repair
project will soon be submitted to the City Council
for approval, which will obligate the remaining
funds from the Annual Sidewalk, Curb and Gutter
Repair Program.
The attached map indicates locations of residential
streets, which are recommended for AC overlay and
street rehabilitation in this Phase Two project.
