SUBJECT: IMPROVEMENTS TO MC FADDEN/PASADENA PARKETTE
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Accept a $1,500 donation from the Kiwanis Club of Tustin for said
improvements.
2. Approve the design concept for Mc Fadden/Pasadena Parkette.
3. Appropriate $3,000 from the Park Development fund for safety
fencing.
BACKGROUND:
The Kiwanis Club of Tustin has donated $1,500 for improvements to the
arkette located at Mc Fadden and Pasadena Avenues. This project will
espond to the survey conducted by the Community Improvement Partnership
Program (CIPP) last spring. Park amenities will include a bench, picnic
table, trash receptacle and a plaque recognizing the Kiwanis. A Club
representative will be present at the January 4 Council meeting to present a
check to the City.
The design concept for the park was developed with input from the CIPP
committee, Police Department and Field Services staff. Staff recommends
installation of safety fencing along the perimeter of the park. The
estimated cost of fencing is $3,000. There is money in the Park Development
Fund from In -lieu Park Fees from the development of the Pasadena Apartments.
Pursuant to the Quimby Act, the expenditure of In -lieu fees should benefit
the neighboring community. Staff recommends that the fencing be installed by
a contractor unless the cost is prohibitive.
The Kiwanis club should be commended for their contribution to the City.
There is a documented lack of parks in the southwest area of Tustin. This
park will provide a much needed recreational outlet for neighborhood
residents.
