Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed, it is further recommended that 35 days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion, that the Council authorize payment of the final 10% retention in the amount of $47, 390.04. This project also included, as added work by a contract change order initiated by the City, the rehabilitation and resurfacing of Franklin Avenue and Myford Road, between Dow Avenue and Michelle Drive, in the industrial area. The original contract amount of $359,782.97 was 21.6% below the Engineer's estimate of $459,029.10. The increase in quantity for the contract change order takes advantage of the highly competitive unit prices of this contract. The final cost of this extra work is $103,970.57. This work has been completed to the satisfaction of the Engineering Division. The final contract amount is $473,900.39. This represents an increase of 31.7 percent from the original contract amount of $359,782.97, but 3.14 percent over the Engineer's estimate, due to the extra work as specified above. Robert S.
