SUBJECT: SIR MONTH EXTENSION OF CONTRACT NO. 12GO29 FOR REIMBURSEMENT
OF EXPENSES FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL MODIFICATIONS AND ADJUSTMENTS
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of
November 2, 1992, by motion, approve and authorize the Mayor to
execute the subject contract.
BACKGROUND:
The City Council previously approved Caltrans Contract No. 12GO29
on September 8, 1992. The six month extension provided in Caltrans
Contract No. 12GO29A/1 allows for continued reimbursement to the
City of additional expenses, for hardware modifications and
adjustment of traffic signal timing requested by Caltrans, beyond
the original contract expiration date of September 30, 1992.
In accordance with the current agreement, an invoice of
approximately $10,000.00, for expenses accrued by the City, during
the period of October 1, 1991 to September 30, 1992, covered by the
Caltrans Contract No. 12GO29 is being processed for billing of
Caltrans.
Caltrans will reimburse the City of Tustin for its expenses to make
minor hardware modifications and to adjust the timing of the
traffic signals at major intersections in the City of Tustin,
to mitigate traffic signal problems due to increased traffic on
local streets in conjunction with the widening and re -construction
of the I-5 Freeway, the SR -55 Freeway and the I-5/SR-55
Interchange.
The major intersections affected include the following: Red Hill
Avenue at the I-5 area; Newport Avenue at the I-5 area; First
Street at Yorba Street; First Street at Tustin Avenue; Irvine
Boulevard at the SR -55 area including Irvine Boulevard at Yorba
Street.

The Contractor hereby agrees to furnish the service or rental as hereinafter set forth to the Depart-
ment of Transportation in accordance with the provisions on BOTH SIDES of this form and on the
attached sheets, and he agrees to receive and accept as full compensation therefor the prices named
herein.
The consideration to be paid Contractor, as provided herein, shall be in
compensation for all of Contractor's expenses incurred in the performance
hereof,. including travel and per diem, unless otherwise expressly so
provided.
No alteration orvariation ofthe terms of this contract shall be valid unless
made in writing and signed bythe parties hereto, and no oral understanding
or agreement not incorporated herein shall be binding on any of the
parties hereto.
The said Department of Transportation hereby agrees to the terms as
set forth herein, and. hereby agrees to pay the same, provided that by mutual
written consent this agreement may be modified and that the State reserves
the right to terminate this agreement upon written notice to the Contractor.

The parties hereto mutually agree to amend the original contract
dated October 1, 1991 as follows:
Article III - Contract Period, is amended to read:
This contract shall begin on October 1, 1991, contingent
upon approval by the State, and expire on April 30, 1993.
All other terms and conditions of the original contract shall
remain in full f orce and effect.
