FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION
SUBJECT: FREEWAY CONSTRUCTION STATUS REPORT (P.W. FILE NO. 896)
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Receive and file.
BACKGROUND:
Following information relates to both freeway and local street
closures as they pertain to the Tustin area.
° Route 55 northbound off -ramp to Irvine Boulevard/4th
Street tentatively scheduled to open in March, 1993.
° Main Street (closure No. 1) between Williams Street and
Stoneglass was closed on May 5, 1992 and is scheduled to
open in late February, 1993.
° Main Street (closure No. 2) between Myrtle Avenue and
Stoneglass tentatively scheduled between early -1993 and
mid-1993 (5 months). This closure will not be
implemented until closure No. 1 is opened to traffic.
° First Street bridge across Route 55 is scheduled for
opening March, 1993.
° Nisson Road between Pasadena Avenue and "B" Street was
opened partially to through traffic on August 30, 1992.
This partial opening consists of 24' wide street with
curb and gutter on the south side and concrete barrier
and/or white edge stripe on the north side. The ultimate
construction is tentatively scheduled in mid-1993.
The above schedule was furnished by the Caltrans Resident Engineers
and is subject to weather conditions.
Caltrans and St. Jeanne DeLestonnac school officials have
apparently reached an agreement regarding the Main Street driveway
access. Plans for the driveway construction /mod if ication have been
submitted to both Caltrans and the City for review. It is
anticipated that the driveway construction will occur either
concurrently with the Main Street reconstruction or immediately
after its completion in February, 1993. Staff will continue to
update this item as information is received from either Caltrans or
St. Jeanne DeLestonnac school.
