SUBJECT: F07 FROM 1101 'SOUTHERLY OF MICHELLE DRIVE TO 1-5.` (PROJECT NO. 900031) RECOMMENDATION• It is recommended that the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of September 8, 1992, award the contract for the subject project to Heritage Engineering Construction, Inc., of Ontario, California, in the amount of $811,344.00 BACKGROUND Bids were opened August 28, 1992 for the subject project and eleven (11) bids were received as follows: 1. Pascal & Ludwig Engineers, Ontario... ..... o ... — ..... $1,415,688.00 The low bid by Heritage Engineering Construction, Inc. is 34.4% below the Engineers estimate of $1,236,164.50. This project will consist of the construction of 640 feet of reinforced concrete rectangular channel, two reinforced concrete transition structures, pipe inlets, a maintenance road and other appurtenances to return the storm flows to the existing earthen channel. This project will provide 100 -year storm protection to the area northerly of the I-5 freeway and provide two additional automobile dealership parcels. Funding from the 1991-92 Capital Improvement Program is adequate for the completion of this project. aQ Robert S.
