HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND AUTHORIZATION TO FILE A NOTICE SUBJECT: OF COMPLETION FOR MODIFICATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND INTERCONNECT AT MAIN STREET/PACIFIC STREET, AT MAIN STREET/"B" STREET, AND AT EL CAMINO REAL~ 6TH STREET RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of December 6, 1993, adopt the attached resolution accepting said work and authorizing the recordation of the Notice of Completion. Assuming no claims or stop notices are filed, it is further recommended that 35 days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion, the City Council authorize payment of the final 10% retention in the amount of $3,340.00. This amount together with previous payments of $30,060.00, represents 100% of the final contract amount.. FISCAL IMPACT: The final cost of construction is $33,400.00. This amount is to be paid from the.allocated funds for the project in the FY 1993-94 Capital Improvement Program budget. BACKGROUND: This project included the modification of traffic signals and interconnect at the intersections of Main Street/Pacific Street, Main Street/"B" Street, and at E1 Camino Real/6th Street. This project also included the installation of a new electrical service at the intersection of E1 Camino Real/6th Street. This work has been completed to the satisfaction of the Engineering Division. The final, contract amount is $33,400.00. Since there were no change orders associated with this project, this represents the original contract amount of $33,400.00. Robert S. Anderson Transportation Engineer Attachmcnts ' RESOLUTION NO. 93-133 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 24 25 26 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR MODIFICATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND INTERCONNECT AT MAIN STREET AND PACIFIC STREET, AT MAIN STREET AND "B" STREET, AND AT EL'CAMINO REAL AND 6TH STREET WHEREAS, Steiny and Company, Inc., has a contract with the City of Tustin to modify the hereinafter described public works and improvements; and WHEREAS, the CitY Engineer has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned, in a manner satisfactory to the city Council of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said improvements hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public'works and improvement be, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public works and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Modification of Traffic Signals and Interconnect at Main Street and Pacific Street, at Main Street and "B" Street, and at E1 Camino Real and 6th Street AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin be, and is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion and acceptance of said public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
