Guy Nancy Frances Solano Dear Ms. Solano: We have reviewed your complaint that your stolen vehicle was found in Santa Aha in January and that no one informed you of its recovery, until May, 1993. Our investigation concludes that your vehicle was found in the city of Santa Ana on January 19, 1993 by virtue of its being involved in a malicious mischief incident. Shortly thereafter an investigator from the Santa Ana Police Department verified that it was a stolen vehicle belonging to you and attempted phone contact based on a 1991 phone number. As this rnznber was no longer valid, he was unable to contact you personally. On January 25, 1993, the originating agency of the stolen vehicle, the Tustin Police Department, was notified and assumed the responsibility of contacting you regarding its recovery. We regret that you may have been inconvenienced, however, suggest that you contact the /ustin Police Department for any further assistance. As a means of assisting them in their investigation, please refer to Santa Aha Police Department report number 93-03874. The vehicle was abandoned and possibly involved ~n a vandalism. The YIN plate on the vehicle was A record check on ~he V~N showed no record on f~le. ! was assigned to inspec~ ~he car ~n an attempt to locate %he registered owner. made a record check on the VZN through the V~NASSIST sys%em and ~ound ~he VIN should be on a 62 Olos Cutlass Calais with ~ d~esel eng~e. I could no~ f~nd the registered owner. On 1/25/93, Investigator VAN ES amc myself went ~o San~a Aaa Tow a~ 665 S. San~a Fa, Sa~a Ana to inspect the vehicle. We saw tha~ ;he VIN was on an Olos Cutlass 2D, =1ua in color. We looked a; the engane and saw tha~ it was a g~soline engine. We also saw the car appeared ~o h~ve been pain,ed blue. We found spots of grey paint in various Darts of the car. We located a secondary production numaer on the c~r. From ~hat number, we 3earned ~hat thSs car was a stolen vehScle. It was s~olen from ~he c~ty of Tcs=in on ;1/7/91, ~ust~n case number 91-008~25. The VIN that should be cn the ca~' 5s we made a tape lift of the seconOary production number which was re~a~neO by me. We removed the VIN ;hat was curren~>, at~ached to the dash area of the csr. Tha~ V2N wcs booked as evidence 5nto locker 19, SAPD. While checksng ;he car, ~ located on the front seat a vehicle registration which ~s :~sted as ~tem number 2 under e~4. der, ce.
