CONSENT ~'CALENDAR NO. 4 10-4-93 Intor-Com DATE: OCTOBER 4, 1993 TO: FROM: SUBJECT: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/WATER SERVICES DIVISION AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR CONSULTING SERVICES- VARIOUS WATER MAINS (PROJECTS 600121 AND:'600122) RECOMMENDATION: That the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of October 4, 1993, authorize the Mayor to execute a professional services agreement with the firm of D~iel Boyle Engineering, Inc., 23231 South Pointe Drive, Suite 103, Laguna Hills, CA 92653, to prepare plans, specifications, and provide geotechnical, topographic and surveying work for the above project. FISCAL IMPACT: Amount of this contract $ 39,200 (Engineering Design) Current amount budgeted $965,000 (Engineering Design & Construction) Total estimated._projecLcost ..........$965,000 ___ (EngineeringDesign & Construction)_ .. Funding for this project is being provided by bond pr-oeeeds. BACKGROUND: This project consists of replacing deteriorating steel water mains located on Pasadena Avenue, Second Street, 'A' Street, Country Lane, Sierra Alta Drive, Windsor Lane, Ranchview Drive, Wh]mey Drive, Lassen Drive, Shasta Way, Rainier Drive, Blue Ridge Drive, and Oak Ridge Drive. R~'aest for proposals were solicited on July 15, 1993, from four consulting engineering firms to perform' the work as noted above. Proposals were received on August 10, 1993, from those firms as follows: Daniel Boyle Engineering, Inc. Greiner, Inc. CDC Engineering, Inc. GPS Consulting Civil Engineers Daniel Boyle Engineering, Inc. Professional Services Agreement October 4, 1993 Page 2 DISCUSSION: The proposals have been evaluated by staff on the basis of demonstrated competence, professional qualifications necessary for the sariS'factory performance of the required work, and familiarity and prior experience with providing the requested services. The selection committee is recommending Daniel Boyle Engineering, Inc. to prepare plans, specifications and provide geotechnical, topographic and surveying work for the above project for the fee of $39,200.
