HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS - STREET REHABILITATION OF WARNER AVENUE, BETWEEN SR-55 FREEWAY ANDRED HILL AVENUE (CIP NO. 700123, AHFP NO. 92-072) RECOMMENDATIONS It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of October 19, 1993, adopt the attached resolution accepting said work and authorizing the recordation of the Notice of Completion. Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed, it is further recommended that the Council authorize payment of the final 10% retention amount of $14,949.29, thirty-five days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion. This amount, together with previous payment of $134 543.60 represents 100% of the final contract a~ount. ' FISCAL IMPACT City of Tustin's share of cost is estimated to be less than $48,000,00. This amount is included in the 1993-94 FY Budget. BACKGROUND This project encompassed pavement rehabilitation, repair of curb and gutter, and construction of stamped concrete in existing median islands. This was a joint project with the City of Santa Aha, which allowed for the improvement of the entire street in lieu of only half the street. This project has been approved for 50% funding, for eligible items by Orange County's Arterial Highway Financing Program (AHFP). The City of Santa Ana will be invoiced for their proportionate share of the final contract amount, and upon completion of final project report. The project has been completed to the satisfaction of the Engineering Division. The final contract amount is $149,492.89. This represents an increase of 3.25 percent from the original contract amount of $144,786.60. This increase represents the difference between the final construction quantities and the project estimated quantities. -- Robert S. Le'dendecker - Director of Public Works/City Engineer % . RSL'.,?I' ccg strehab Attachment Nestor Mondok Assistant Civil Engineer RESOLUTION NO. 93-112 6 9 10 11 12 13 15 16 17 19 20 9.1 23 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE STREET REHABILITATION OF WARNER AVENUE, BETWEEN SR-55 FREEWAY AND RED HILL AVENUE, AHFP PROJECT NO. 92-072 WHEREAS, R.J. Noble Company, having a contract with the City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public work and improvement; and WHEREAS, the city Engineer has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS., the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract docUments and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract document. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public work and improvement be and the same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly described as follows: The Street Rehabilitation of Warner Avenue, Between SR-55 Freeway and Red Hill Avenue AHFP Project No. 92-072 ' AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin be and is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion and acceptance of said public work and improvement described herein ms required by law.
