RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting
September 20, 1993 award a contract to B.R. Day Construction, Inc.

FISCAL IMPACT
At present there is $98,710.00 available in the 1993-94 FY budget for
this project. An original amount of $103,100.00 was budgeted for
this project. Of this amount $3,216.00 was used in the preparation
of topographic surveys and base maps and $1,174.00 was used for the
preparation of the final approved plan'set.
BACKGROUND
Bids for the subject project were opened on September 2, 1993.

This project consists of installing new 6" and 8" PVC water mains to
replace existing undersized water mains on Mountain View Drive, "A"
Street, and Irvine Boulevard.
References submitted by B.R. Day were contacted and B.R. Day received
good recommendation from all contacted references.
The bid price of $81,775.00 is 17.87% lower than the Engineer's
estimate of $99,571.50.
