There have been a number of challenges during the last few years. From a planning standpoint we have a new facade on Centennial Way, the Tustin Ranch development has expanded the need for comprehensive planning...including a new General Plan, the Tustin Market Place has been identified as an "eyesore'' while receiving accolades from people in the know. Due to financial planning, the City of Tustin is fiscally sound...at lease for now. City staff is interested in working with the public including a "user friendly" attitude at the counter as well as working closely with the community attempting to identify ways to encourage business, fight graffiti, help decide what to do with the Helicopter Base, and where to put a rail road station. All of these at once. HOW EXCITING! This is not a sleepy town of 2-3,000' people. So, with that, please put my name in the hopper so I may be considered again for Planning Commissioner. I was appointed last July to fill out the unexpired term of a member who resigned from the Audit Committee. During the past year I have been an active member of the Committee. I have attended all scheduled Committee meetings except the July 1993 meeting when I was in Sacramento on business. Likewise, I have attended budget workshop meetings when I was in town or not ill. In fact, it was as a result of information that I brought to the Committee that a decision was made (for reasons of safety) to go out for bid on the institution holding the Redevelopment Agency accounts. This resulted in a contract award moving those funds to First Interstate Bank. In addition, I believe that it was largely through my suggestions that initiatives in the areas of Audit Committee reviews of general policy and procedures by City department and the business license program recently announced by the City were established. In the coming 'months, one of the primary tasks of the Audit Committee will be to solicit and evaluate annual audit proposals from potential CPA firms. My eight years of experience at Rockwell spent in writing and evaluating government RFPs and proposals, and also managing government programs, subcontractors, and contracts of up to $50 million in value adds a dimension not otherwise present on the committee. I believe that experience will be helpful in this task. I have been a Tustin resident and business owner for about seven years and am a registered and consistent voter. I care about Tustin and want to assist in making it an even better place for us to live and work. I would like to be reappointed to the City of Tustin Audit Committee and hope that this letter and enclosed resume which details my work experience and volunteer background will assist the Council in casting their votes for my reappointment. I am available for discussion about my interest in this appointment and my qualifications. Thank you for your time and consideration. Albert M.
