BACKGROUND
The Governor's office of Emergency Services (O.E.S.), in
conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency
(F.E.M.A.), has developed standardized placards for posting the
occupancy status of buildings following a disaster.
During recent disaster preparedness training with O.E.S., it was
recommended that local jurisdictions create and print placards with
the local jurisdiction's address and phone number in the
appropriate locations. Additionally, it was recommended that prior
to a disaster, the jurisdiction adopt a placard ordinance
establishing authority to post the occupancy status of buildings
following a disaster.
