HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT. AWARD OF CONTRACT SIDEWALK AND CURB AND GUTTER REPAIR PROJECT, a total of 1992-93 FY, PHASE II 1. Lambaren Contractors, Inc., E1 Toro .................. $112,962.00 2. It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of April 19, 1993, award a contract to Lambaren Contractors, Inc., E1 Toro, CA, in the amount of $112,962.00. Currently, $131,000.00 is budgeted for the subject project and it is recommended that the difference in monies be used to add other repair locations at this contract's prices. FISCAL IMPACT: The available money for Phase II of the Annual Sidewalk and Curb and Gutter Repair Project is $131,000.00 after money for the construction of Phase I, of the subject project was allocated in the amount of $93,658.60 as well as survey services in the amount of $7,370.00 and interim funding for SB821 was furnished in the amount of $8,323.00. BACKGROUND: Bids for the subject project were opened April 12, 1993 with a total of ten bids being received. The results were as follows: 1. Bopark Enterprises, Inc., Rancho Cucamonga ........... $125,190.95 4. Ranco Corporation, Brea ............................... $137,836.00 5. F.A.V. Engineering, Huntington Beach .................. $138,684.50 6. Damon Construction Co., Carson ....................... $152,588.00 7. All American Asphalt, Corona ......................... $163,476.80 8. J.D.C., Rancho Cucamonga ............................. $170,413.05 9. Advanced Construction, Santa Monica .................. $170,599.00 10. B-1 Enterprise Corporation, Rancho Cucamonga ......... $264,932.24 The low bid of $112,962.00 is 13.8% below the engineers estimate of $131,000.00. The project will include the removal and reconstruction of existing portlaUd cement concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter and drive aprons as well as the pruning of tree roots to limit future damage. The references and the Contractors State License of Lambarer Contractors, Inc. have been checked and are appropriate for the subject project.
