BACKGROUND• This project encompasses the ultimate replacement of deteriorated water mains on Prospect Avenue and Santa Clara Avenue. This main replacement extends along Santa Clara Avenue from the Prospect Well to Prospect Avenue, then northerly along Prospect Avenue to Fairhaven Avenue and will provide a more substantial groundwater source for the water system. The initial operation of this water main will serve as a blending line for the groundwater pumped from the Prospect Well which tends to operate at a higher nitrate level. Once the nitrate levels have been stabilized at an acceptable level the line will be utilized as a distribution main allowing the deteriorated mains along Prospect Avenue to be retired. This portion of the above project has been completed to the satisfactio of the Water Division.
