SUBJECT. AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF FURNISHINGS FOR PHASE II
OF THE CIVIC CENTER PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Redevelopment Agency authorize the
purchase of miscellaneous furniture from the lowest' bidder,
California Business Interiors, in the amount of $48,861.78.
FISCAL IMPACT
Total fiscal impact of purchase is $48,861.78. These costs have
been previously included in the Civic Center project budget.
BACKGROUND
The Redevelopment Agency, at a regular meeting on March 1, 1993,
authorized the advertisement of bids for certain miscellaneous
furniture for Phase II of the Civic Center project. Costs for the
purchase of the advertised items were .included in the original
budget for the Civic Center expansion project.
Bids for the miscellaneous advertised furniture items were opened
on April 12, 1993 at 10:00 a.m. Three bids were received with two
bids rejected as incomplete.
Based on submitted bids, California Business Interiors is the
lowest bidder at $ 48,861.78. Staff has checked references and
find that California Business Interiors is a reputable firm. In
addition, they are the firm who have the awarded contract on the
County Cooperative Purchasing Program which was authorized to be
purchased by the City Council on March 1, 1993.
In addition to authorizing advertisement of bids on March 1, 1993,
the Agency also authorized the Agency's participation in the County
of Orange Cooperative Purchasing Program for Steelcase Avenir
Product and accessory Steelcase Products for Phase II. A cost
summary from California Business Interiors (The County's awarded
vendor for Steelcase product) based on furniture specifications
requested by the Agency will be provided to the Agency at their
meeting on May 3, 1993.
