AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR THE ASPHALT CONCRETE REHABILITATION AND
SUBJECT: OVERLAY PROJECT, FY 1992-93, PHASE TWO; AND THE SIDEWALK, CURB
AND GUTTER REPAIR PROJECT, FY -1992-93, PHASE ONE
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of
April 5, 1993, award the contract to All American Asphalt, in the amount
of $448,899.47 for the subject project.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The street rehabilitation/overlay will be funded from the CIP Major
Maintenance Program in the contract amount of $365,082.11; and the
sidewalk, curb and gutter repair will be funded from the Annual
Sidewalk, Curb and Gutter Repair Program in the contract amount of
$83,817.36.
11ACKGROUN D:
Seven (7) bids were received on March 25, 1993 and are summarized as
follows:

Sully -Miller Contracting Co., Orange ........... $463,235.48
Damon Construction Co., Carson ................. $477,870.00
Boral Resources, Inc., Pomona .................. $481,826.87
Excel Paving Co., Long Beach .................... $4933,360.84
Excalibur Contracting Inc., Lake Forest ........ $508,065.81
R.J. Noble Co., Orange ......................... $588,414.64
The low bid is 10.97% below the engineer's estimate of $498,137.70. The
references and the Contractor's State License of All American Asphalt
have been checked and are appropriate for the subject project. The
project consists of rehabilitation and overlay of streets in the
residential area easterly of Red Hill Avenue and southerly of Walnut
Avenue and repair of median islands, sidewalk, curb and gutter, and
replacement of traffic signal loops, striping and legends.
