AWARD OF CONTRACT, CALIFORNIA STREET WIDENING/RECONSTRUCTION
(PROJECT NO. 700115)
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of April 5,
1993, award a contract to Boral Resources, Inc., in the amount of
$41,863.75 subject to the transfer of additional funding in the amount
of $13,650.00 from the FY 192-193 Major Maintenance Program (Project No.
700001)
FISCAL IMPACT:
Amount currently budgeted in the 1992-93 Capital Improvement Program
Project Budget is $28,260.00. It is recommended that the $13,650.00
shortfall be funded with a transfer of surplus funds from the 192-193
Major Maintenance Program (Project No. 700001)
BACKGROUND:
Bids for the subject project were opened March, 29, 1993, with a total
of nine bids being received. The results were as follows:
1. Boral Resources, Inc., Pomona, CA .............. $41,863.75
2. Sully -Miller Contracting Company, Orange, CA ... $49,123.15
3. E.C. Construction, So. E1 Monte, CA ............ $53,810.96
4. R.J. Noble Company, Orange, CA ................. $57,370.60
5. Damon Construction Company, Corona, CA ......... $57,874.00
6. Haitbrink Asphalt Paving, Inc. Anaheim, CA ..... $58,920.75
7. Excel Paving Company, Long Beach, CA ........... $59,137.53
8. Hardy & Harper, Inc., Santa Ana, CA ............ $62,068.35
9. A.L. Chavez Enterprise, Inc., Corona, CA ....... $64,287.11
The low bid of $41,863.75 represents an increase of 14.3% over the
engineer's estimate of $35,879.75.
The project will include new portland cement concrete, curb, gutter,
sidewalk, drive aprons and driveways, as well as new asphalt concrete
paving.
