HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: FREEWAY CONSTRUCTION STATUS REPORT (P.W. FILE NO. 896) RECOMMENDATION Receive and file. BACKGROUND Following information relates to both freeway and local street closures as they pertain to the Tustin area. Route 55 northbound off -ramp to Irvine Boulevard/4th Street tentatively scheduled to open in late April or early May, 1993. Main Street (closure No. 1) between Williams Street and — Stoneglass was closed on May 5, 1992 and is scheduled to open in June, 1993. Main Street (closure No. 2) between Myrtle Avenue and Stoneglass which was tentatively scheduled between mid- 1993 and late -1993 (5 months) is now being reevaluated and Caltrans is working with the prime contractor to delete this closure. ° First Street bridge across Route 55 is scheduled for opening in April, 1993. Nisson Road between Pasadena Avenue and "B" Street was opened partially to through traffic on August 20, 1992. This partial opening consists of 24' wide street with curb and gutter on the south side and concrete barrier, curb and gutter and/or white edge stripe on the north side. The ultimate construction is tentatively scheduled for mid-1993. I-5 northbound on-ramp from Newport Avenue to close in early April, 1993 for three weeks. I-5 southbound off -ramp to Newport Avenue to close in May, 1993 for three weeks. The above schedule was furnished by Caltrans Resident Engineers and is subject to weather conditions. Caltrans and St. Jeanne DeLestonnac school officials have apparently reached an agreement regarding the Main Street driveway access. Plans for the driveway construction/modification have been William A. Huston Freeway Construction Status Report March 15, 1993 Page Two submitted to both Caltrans and the City for review. The work is now being coordinated by the consultant with all affected utility companies and Caltrans. It is anticipated that the driveway construction will occur either concurrently with the Main Street reconstruction or immediately after its completion in June, 1993.
