HUSTON, CITY MANAGER OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK RESOLUTION NO. 94-92 - SUPPORT EFFORTS TO KEEP RAMS IN ORANGE COUNTY RECOMMENDATION Adopt Resolution No. 94-92 declaring support for the Los Angeles Rams remaining in Anaheim and the County of Orange. FISCAL IMPACT - None DISCUSSION The Orange County Division League of California Cities has requested support of efforts to keep the Rams professional football franchise in Orange County. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 20 21 22 23 25 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 94-92 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING SUPPORT FOR THE LOS ANGELES RAMS REMAINING IN ANAHEIM AND THE COUNTY OF ORANGE WHEREAS, Anaheim is home to the Los Angeles Rams, who have entertained fans from Southern California since 1946; and WHEREAS, the Rams organization and player payrolls create a positive financial impact throughout the Orange County area; and WHEREAS, the local charities Shat now benefit from their association with players for fund-raising activities like golf tournaments, basketball games, personal appearances and support, etc., will suffer because of a loss of revenue; and WHEREAS, employees that are now employed by businesses that enjoy more trade because of the Rams (i.e., restaurants, hotels, golf courses, automobile agencies, city employees at the stadium, stadium employees, home sale real estate companies and many others) will become unemployed if the Rams move; and WHEREAS, the other teams in the National Football League will be closely watching the situation with the Rams to determine if the fan support is sufficient to support professional football in Orange County if the Rams decide to move. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the city of Tustin, California, declares our support of the efforts of the Rams Booster Club in encouraging the Los Angeles Rams to remain in Anaheim, and we further encourage our residents to support this effort by financially supporting the team whenever possible.
