HUSTON, CITY M3tNAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS - ASPHALT CONCRETE REHABILITATION AND OVERLAY PROJECT, 1993-94 FY (PROJECT NO. 700001) RE__COMMENDaTION It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of August 1, 1994, adopt the attached resolution accepting said work and authorizing the recordation of the Notice of Completion. Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed, it is further recommended that 35 days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion, that the CQuncil authorize payment of the final 10% retention in the amount of $48,625.52. This amount together with previous payments of $437,629.66 represents 100% of the final contract amount. FISCAL IM__PACT The final cost of construction is $486,255.18 which is funded from the CIP Major Maintenance Program in 1993-94 FY. BACKGROUND This project encompassed rehabilitation and overlay of various streets in the City; removal of a cross-gutter and construction of wheelchair ramps at the intersection of Charloma Drive and Sycamore Avenue; adjustment of water valves and manholes; and replacement of traffic signal loops, striping and legends. This work has been completed to the satisfaction of the Engineering Division. The final contract amount is $486,255.18. This represents an increase of 25.1 percent from the original contract amount of $388,822.62. The increase was due to additional quantities and additional work as detailed in Contract Change Order No. 1. The extra work was added in order to meet the City's "Measure M" maintenance of effort requirement. The final contract amount, including the cost of the Contract Change Order is funded from the 1993-94 FY budget for Major Maintenance Program. ~ Robert S. Ledendeck~l~ Acting Director of Public Works/ City Engineer Nestor Mondok Assistant Civil Engineer 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 24 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 94-95 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AI~D AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE ASPHALT CONCRETE REHABILITATION AND OVERLAY PROJECT 1993-94 FY (PROJECT NO. 700001) WHEREAS, Boral Resources, Inc., having a contract with the City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public works and improvements; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in manner satisfactory to the City Council of the city of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said improvements hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public work and improvement be, and the same is hereby accepted.
