DISCUSSION
At the meeting of July 5, 1994, the City Council decided it was not
feasible to locate a roller hockey facility at Tustin Sports Park.
Staff was instructed to review alternate locations for a skating
rink at the Columbus Tustin site.
Staff is currently exploring potential locations at Columbus Tustin
Park. Conceptual studies are in progress at the tennis courts
area, and at the softball field area south of the parking lot.
Either location would require a modification of the existing
facilities at the school site. A preliminary review indicates
there would not be enough room on the City owned portion of the
park site for a roller hockey rink. Staff would anticipate
returning to City Council in approximately two weeks with more
detailed information and possible alternate concepts for Council
consideration prior to any further discussions with the Tustin
Unified School District.
In addition to the site studies, staff is collecting concession
agreements from other cities, reviewing the current joint use
agreements with the school district for existing facilities on the
site, gathering property line survey data, and researching as-built
plans for the tennis courts area.
