NO. 6
~ "6-20-94
Inter-Com
ATE:
JUNE 15, 1994
TO:
FROM:
SUBJECT:
HONORABLE MAyoR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
WILLIAM A. HUSTON, CITY MANAGER.
FIRE SERVICES CONTRACT
That the City Council authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement with
the County of Orange which extends the City's agreement for fire
suppression, prevention, inspection and paramedic services through June
30, 1995.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The draft 1994-95 General Fund budget includes funds for the contract
amount of $3,312,673.
DISCUSSION:
The City Council is scheduled to consider the proposed joint powers
agreement for fire services at its July 5, 1994 meeting. Since the
joint powers authority would not be created until late summer or early
fall, .the County and cities contracting for County Fire Department
services felt it would be best to extend present agreements until June
30, 1995. The agreement would be assumed by the joint.powers authority
and there would be no change in the 1994-95 contract amount. Extension
of the agreement is simply a procedural matter.
