SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT WALNUT
AVENUE AND MCFADDEN AVENUE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of March 21,
1994, award the contract for the subject project to Steiny & Company,
Inc., in the amount of $97,017.00.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The iow bid by Steiny & Company, Inc. is approximately~10.8% lower than
the Engineer's estimate of $108,800.00 for this project. This project
will be funded with the City's FY 1993-94 Capital Improvement Program..
BACKGROUND:
Bids were opened on March 14, 1994 for the subject project and six (6)
bids were received as follows:

The references and the State Contractors License of Steiny & Company,
Inc., have been checked and verified and are appropriate for the subject
project. Also, Steiny & Company, Inc., has previously performed similar
work for the City to the satisfaction of the City.
This project will provide for the installation of a traffic signal at
Walnut Avenue and McFadden Avenue. The work will include all labor,
material, tools, equipment, appurtenances and incidentals for the
installation of a traffic signal and interconnect and pavement marking
modifications as detailed on the plans and specifications for this
project.
