SUBJEC~ AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL MODIFICATION AT RED HILL
AVENUE AND IRVINE BOULEVARD
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the City Council at their meeting of
February 22, 1994, award the contract for the subject project to
AAA Electric in the amount of $56,480.00.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The low bid by AAA Electric is approximately 19% lower than the
Engineer's estimate of $69,900.00 for this project. This project
will be funded with the City's FY 1993-94 Capital Improvement
Program. Through a previously approved agreement, the .County of
Orange will finance 50% of the construction of this project.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were opened on February 17, 1994 for the subject project and
four (4) bids were received as follows:

Steiny & Co., Inc.,Fullerton, ................. $76,806.00
Baxter-Griffin Co.,Stanton, ................... $77,540.00
The references and the State Contractors License of AAA Electric
have been checked and verified and are appropriate for the subject
project.
This project will provide for the modification of the traffic
signal at Red Hill Avenue and Irvine Boulevard by installing left- -
turn phasing for traffic in the Red Hill direction.
