PARKER, CITY MANAGER FROM: DAVID A. WILSON, DIRECTOR, PARKS AND RECREATION SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZATION TO FILE THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE CENTENNIAL PARK ENTRY PLAYGROUNDS AND LAUREL GLEN PARCOURSE (FITNESS) RENOVATIONS (CIP NO. 20075) SUMMARY: The Centennial Park Entry Playgrounds and Laurel Glen Parcourse (Fitness) Renovations have been completed and the project is ready for acceptance and filing of the Notice of Completion. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council: 1. Adopt Resolution No. 15-56 accepting the Centennial Park Entry Playgrounds and Laurel Glen Parcourse Renovations (CIP No. 20075), and 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office. FISCAL IMPACT: The Centennial Park Entry Playgrounds and Laurel Glen Parcourse Renovations (CIP No. 20075) was in the 2014-2015 Capital Improvement Program budget as a Park Development funded project for a total of $381,000. The actual final cost of the project was $339,449. CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN: This project addresses Goal A of the City of Tustin Strategic Plan regarding Economic and Neighborhood Development. Specifically it relates to Strategy #6 in that the renovated playgrounds and fitness stations will expand the recreational opportunities for Tustin. BACKGROUND: The scope of work included the demolition and removal of the existing playground equipment at the four main entries to Centennial Park (14722 Devonshire Avenue) as well as the parcourse stations at Laurel Glen Park (13301 Myford Road). New equipment was installed at both parks along with ADA compliant ramps and safety surfacing. The project was completed on August 25, 2015. The work of improvement was completed on the 25th day of August. 2015. 5. The name of the contractor, if any, for such work of improvement was: Ace CD, Inc. 6. STACK RESOLUTION NO. 15-56 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN CALIFORNIA ACCEPTING THE WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE RECORDATION OF THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE CENTENNIAL PARK ENTRY PLAYGROUNDS AND LAUREL GLEN PAR COURSE RENOVATIONS (CIP NO. 20075) WHEREAS, Ace CD, Inc., having a contract with the City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public works and improvement; and WHEREAS, the Project Manager has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvement hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contractor authorized in accordance with the contract documents; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public work and improvement be accepted, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Centennial Park Entry Playgrounds and Laurel Glen Par Course Renovations CIP No. 20075 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance of said public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
