RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of
February 7, 19~4, adopt the attached' resolution approving plans
and specifications and authorizing advertisement for bids for
subject project.
FISCAL IMPACT
The current budget provides $521,535.00 for Major Street
Maintenance Program. Approximately $20,000 was paid to the County
of Orange for a previous joint resurfacing project. The city
Council approved two cooperative agreements with the County of
Orange that allocated approximately $70,000 for the resurfacing of
Newport Avenue north of Wass Street and the slurry seal of various
streets within the City .as joint projects. This will 'leave
431,535.00 to cover the estimated cost of the subject project.
BACKGROUND
This year's major maintenance program consists of one pha~e that
combines the asphalt concrete rehabilitation/overlay and the slurry
seal operations in one project. The project this year includes
repair and resurfacing or slurry seal of all the streets east of
Newport Avenue, south of Nisson Road, west of the abandoned
railroad right-of-way and north of AT&SF railroad with the
following exceptions: Tustin Meadow's streets which were
resurfaced last year; Red Hill Avenue; Walnut Avenue; Browning
Avenue; Mitchell Avenue - from ~ewport Avenue to Red Hill Avenue
and portions of Sycamore Avenue, west of School Lane.
~he Engineer's estimate for the subject project is $430,000.
The attached map indicates locations of residential/collector
