HUSTON, CITY MANAGER '" TO: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION FROM' APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZATION TO SUBJECT: ADVERTISE FOR THE ASPHALT CONCRETE REHABILITATION]kNDOVERLAY PROJECT,' FY 1993-94 RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of February 7, 19~4, adopt the attached' resolution approving plans and specifications and authorizing advertisement for bids for subject project. FISCAL IMPACT The current budget provides $521,535.00 for Major Street Maintenance Program. Approximately $20,000 was paid to the County of Orange for a previous joint resurfacing project. The city Council approved two cooperative agreements with the County of Orange that allocated approximately $70,000 for the resurfacing of Newport Avenue north of Wass Street and the slurry seal of various streets within the City .as joint projects. This will 'leave 431,535.00 to cover the estimated cost of the subject project. BACKGROUND This year's major maintenance program consists of one pha~e that combines the asphalt concrete rehabilitation/overlay and the slurry seal operations in one project. The project this year includes repair and resurfacing or slurry seal of all the streets east of Newport Avenue, south of Nisson Road, west of the abandoned railroad right-of-way and north of AT&SF railroad with the following exceptions: Tustin Meadow's streets which were resurfaced last year; Red Hill Avenue; Walnut Avenue; Browning Avenue; Mitchell Avenue - from ~ewport Avenue to Red Hill Avenue and portions of Sycamore Avenue, west of School Lane. ~he Engineer's estimate for the subject project is $430,000. The attached map indicates locations of residential/collector streets, which are recommended for AC overlay, slurry seal and street rehabilitation in this project.
