DISCUSSION:
The Fairhaven Avenue water main replacement is the first phase of a project consisting of the relocation
of various water mains along the SR-55 (Costa Mesa). Freeway at 17th Street, Santa Clara Avenue, and
Fairhaven Avenue. This work is necessary to facilitate the current widening of the SR-55 between 17th
Street and south of the SR-22 (Garden Grove) Freeway.
All of the above water lines will be replaced using 10 and 12-inch restrained joint ductile-iron pipe.
Caltrans will reimburse the City 78.2 percent for this project'per the utility agreement approved by the
Tustin City Council on June 19, 1995. Due to the need for upgrading its facilities for future needs,
the City will fund the additional 21.8 percent.
